CertifiedMail Launches Secure Email System Version 4.0

Users At Desktop Or Mobile Computing Devices Have New Option To Be Alerted To And Immediately Access Secure Emails Without Having To Open An Email Client

MORRISTOWN, NJ, July 12, 2006 – CertifiedMail, provider of secure email systems to organizations as diverse as Delta Dental, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Sutter Health, today announced the launch of Version 4.0 of its CertifiedMail Secure Email System. Version 4.0 features a new RSS Feed option that makes access to receiving and replying to secure email easier and quicker, regardless of whether the recipient is using a desktop computer, laptop, PDA or cell phone.

"Enterprises use CertifiedMail to ensure the safe exchange of critical and confidential information via email and to meet the privacy compliance requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and other regulations," said CertifiedMail Chief Technology Officer Bob Janacek. "With Version 4.0, we're continuing the process that has always driven our development – to make the sending, receiving, and tracking of secure email an easy-to-use, open, standards-based process that does not force users to live inside their email client. The new RSS feed option enables users to bypass their email client altogether and leverage the web browser to access and monitor their secure email correspondence through simple toolbar buttons."

RSS Feed Capability Leverages the Browser to Bypass The Email Client

Today's email clients face the challenge of spammers who fill email inboxes with their junk email, burying legitimate and critical email messages that may even be incorrectly identified as spam and relegated to the junk mail folder. "CertifiedMail is taking a leadership position in offering universal mobile access to secure messaging through their salesforce.com plug-in and the addition of RSS feeds, providing more value to enterprise mobility," said Chris Liebert, Senior Analyst for Yankee Group's Security Solutions & Services Decision Service."

New 'PDF Push' Extends Use of Standards to Secure Email Delivery Options

"Version 4.0 of CertifiedMail's Secure Email System will enable our IT personnel to select push or pull options for secure mail delivery to different types of users and this will help us further embed the appropriate use of secure messaging into our internal culture," said David Weiner, information security analyst at Martin Memorial Health Systems in Stuart, Florida.

Version 4.0 supports a new recipient-selected delivery method that converts CertifiedMail messages and attachments into encrypted, password-protected PDF documents, as an alternative to the web-portal delivery ("pull") system. The PDF Push delivery method empowers recipients to bypass the web portal to view their secure messages directly in their email client. Once PDF Push has been selected as the preferred delivery method, all unopened and future CertifiedMail messages are thereafter sent in secure PDF format. When received as a message in their email client, the recipient opens the secure PDF message, which automatically launches Acrobat Reader; the recipient is prompted for their password, enabling Acrobat to display the secure message along with any embedded attachments.

Secure PDF messages can be opened even if the recipient is offline, although users must be online to send a secure reply to a pushed message. To respond, recipients simply click the "Reply" button in the PDF document to open their browser and reply using the secure webmail interface.

Version 4.0 Availability & Pricing

CertifiedMail Secure Email System Version 4.0 is available as a hosted service or licensed for on-premises use. Pricing starts at $99 per seat. Additionally, CertifiedMail, via web API (application program interface), offers organizations the opportunity to build secure messaging into existing business process applications, creating secure email applications in a few lines of code.
